Instructor Bios

Jen
Cascade Yoga Studio - Photo of Yoga Instructor JenJen's yoga journey began in 2001. She quickly fell in love with the practice and has returned to her mat over and over for the peace, stillness, presence, and joy she finds in that sacred space. Jen discovered a way of living and being that brings so much fullness to life. This is what Jen shares with her yoga students. In 2006, she completed her teacher training at Kripalu Health and Wellness Center in Lenox, MA, and became registered with Yoga Alliance. Jen also hold a degree in exercise physiology. Currently, Jen is enrolled in a nutrition program with the dream of bridging her love of yoga and nutrition together.

 

Katherine
Cascade Yoga Studio Instructor, Katherine FlorentineKatherine, BS, RYT500, is an affiliated Anusara teacher and has practiced yoga since the early 1990s; she completed her initial Anusara teacher training with Todd Norian in 2002. Since then she completed Level 1 and 2 teacher training with John Friend, founder of Anusara. Her growing and keen interest in yoga for chronic disease management is based on Anusara principles and inspired by yoga therapy training with John. Ultimately, Katherine believes the practice of yoga is beneficial for whatever stage of the wellness continuum a student may be on. Yoga guides and inspires one to live fully in body, mind, and heart. 

 

Laura
Cascade Yoga Studio - Photo of Yoga Instructor LauraLaura graduated from Hope College with a degree in kinesiology, the study of body movement. Over the past 6 years she has continued studying mindful movement as well as how the mental/ cognitive thoughts and energy systems effect the physical body. Sarah Powers, Anna Forest, and Linda Kay have been a few of her most influencial teachers. Laura has completed her 200 RYT from Yoga Alliance.

Melissa
Cascade Yoga Studio - Photo of Yoga Instructor MelissaMelissa comes from a dance and fitness background and has taught a variety of classes over the last 25 years. She began her yoga practice in 2000 and is currently studying Anusara yoga with Todd Norian. Her degree as a recreation therapist led her to work with people with special needs. Melissa believes yoga is a valuable therapeutic practice.

 

Raechel Cascade Yoga Studio Instructor, RaechelRaechel seeks to create a safe place for her students with emphasis on inner and outer alignment. She encourages and support students to build strength, balance, and healing from the inside out. She is certified through Yoga Alliance and holds a degree in psychology.  She is a certified holistic health care practitioner from The Blue Heron Academy. Raechel recently completed level 1 and 2 with Phoenix Rising Yoga therapies and intends to use the experience gained to complete her 500 RYT as a certified yoga therapist. In addition she has trained with Sue Dumais of Canada to practice infertility yoga. She is grateful for this practice and to her students.

Viki
Cascade Yoga Studio - Photo of Yoga Instructor and Studio Owner Viki DistinViki began her yoga practice in 1997 as the answer to a long-time illness. She holds a degree in psychology and has her RYT (certification for teaching yoga). Her primary teacher is Tias Little and therefore she teaches with the structure of alignment and the flow of breath and movement. Forever a student of this practice, she is grateful for all of her teachers, students, and ancient yogis who inspire her every day on this path of wholeness.
