What led you to yoga?
Back in 1969, I learned some yoga in an acting class. I was already carrying back injuries from teenage athletics. So I was looking for a therapeutic intervention at that time (1969) although I didn't realize until I starting taking classes at a yoga ashram a year later …
Friday - Sunday (2.17 - 2.19) Six sessions offered!
This weekend awaken the power that is dormant within you. Gabriel has chosen four categories of postures to bring stability, clarity, tranquility, and vitality to your practice. Every session will have explanation, demonstration, instruction, and correction of each pose as well as dharma discourses to illuminate the yogic philosophy in its classical form as well as in its contemporary embodiments.

Restorative yoga is a gentle practice to nourish the whole body. It relies on the breath to serve as the gateway to center within. This class will weave in grounding postures with the support of various yoga props. The union of mind and body will allow you to feel rejuvenated both physically and mentally. For the upcoming winter months, come explore the beauty of finding an easeful state on your yoga mat.

Knowledge of anatomy brings greater understanding of how the body moves so that we approach yoga poses from the inside out, rather than from the outside in.
Yoga is a powerful tool for keeping our bodies safe and our minds grounded. Marinda makes learning about anatomy fun, practical, and applicable to the practice and teaching of yoga. Methods of teaching will include lecture, asana, pranayama, and bio-feedback practice along with fun, interactive learning exercises.
This workshop is for yoga students, teachers, and yoga enthusiasts. This weekend-long session meets the Yoga Alliance’s required hours for the 200-hour teacher training.

Cascade Yoga Studio's winter schedule >
If you suspect a class is cancelled because of serious weather conditions, please call the studio. If there's a cancellation, we'll put a recording on the Cascade Yoga Studio phone line (616.464.1610) one hour before start of class. Cancellations are determined independent of school closings.
Because conditions can vary from one side of town to the other, a teacher may not be able to make it to the studio. In this case, CYS will try its best to find a substitute to teach the class. As weather conditions change quickly, please check periodically through the day regarding the status of later day classes.
Click the icons in the left-hand navigation to "like" CYS on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, or upload your photos on Flickr. Check in with us on these outlets for announcements, information, and education. See you there!
Introduce your friends and family to Cascade Yoga! We offer students new to CYS and living in the greater Grand Rapids area a complimentary week of FREE classes.
Namaste.
