Thai Massage

.Thai Massage is a traditional healing system combining acupressure, stimulation and manipulation of energy lines call "sen", and assisted yoga postures.

It is often referred to as "lazy persons yoga" because the therapist does the yoga for you! Thai Massage uses gentle pressure and stretching techniques to relax the whole body.  This style of massage incorporates yoga like stretches to reduce stress, relieve tension, and improve circulation.

We would love to introduce you to our Thai Massage Therapists at CYS.

As a Licensed Massage Therapist and Esthetician, Laura loves empowering others to understand their bodies and discover the gentle power of the healing arts. She enjoys being able to bridge the gap between western medicine and the “alternatives,” while providing a safe and nurturing atmosphere in which to heal.

Laura was first introduced to Thai Massage while on working holiday in Australia by a co-worker. She traveled to Chiang Mai, in Northern Thailand, to study Traditional Thai Massage, Nuad Boran.

She began offering Thai Massage at The Crown Jewel Spa, before relocating to Montezuma, Costa Rica. There she completed her Yoga Teacher Training, continued her education in Thai Massage, and began offering bodywork at Anamaya Resort and Wellness Center.

Always grateful to all of her teachers, Laura continues to share her love and knowledge of bodywork here in Grand Rapids, offering Traditional Thai Massage at Cascade Yoga Studio.

Michael Huynh

Michael Huynh, American of Chinese descent, immigrated to Michigan as a young teenager from Vietnam. Whilst immersed in the American culture growing up, Michael has also retained part of the East Asia cultural heritage of his birthplace. To honor his multi-cultural inheritance, Michael looks to bring the best ideas and techniques in bodyworks from the West and the East into his massage practice. His passion to mesh East with West, led Michael to complete an extensive 800+ hours of massage therapy training at the National Holistic Institute College of Massage Therapy in Santa Ana, California (West), following which, he immediately traveled to the city of Chiang Mai in northern Thailand (the birth place & major center of world-renowned Thai Yoga Massage), to begin his 400+ hours of Thai Yoga Massage training (East).

Today, with over 1200 hours of formal training in the science & art of bodyworks, Michael is eager to use his knowledge, skills, and experience to serve Michiganders. Michael is happy to be back in Michigan, and is thrilled to introduce this amazing massage modality, also known as Traditional Thai Massage, to all massage enthusiasts.

One of his many offerings at Cascade Yoga Studio will be Thai Yoga Massage - a fun fact is that Thai Yoga Massage is also affectionately known as the "lazy person's yoga". Come and allow Michael to show you why that is, and how, together with Michael, you can take your yoga stretches a notch beyond what you can achieve alone to improve flexibility, stimulate circulation, and boost your overall wellness.
